Make concepts movable
Use blocks for counting, lids for sorting, toy animals for storytelling, and safe household objects for comparing sizes, textures, or patterns.
Add movement to memory
Clap syllables, step along a number line, form shapes with arms, or act out the sequence of a story. Movement can make an idea easier to revisit.
Invite children to make something
Drawing, collage, play dough, construction, and pretend play ask children to plan, choose materials, adjust, and explain their thinking.
Keep the goal clear
An activity does not need many materials to be meaningful. Name the idea, demonstrate briefly, let the child try, and talk about what happened.
