Pause before answering
Ask what your child already thinks. Their explanation can reveal the real question and give you a useful place to begin.
Investigate together
Look closely, try a safe experiment, check a child-friendly book, draw the idea, or ask someone who knows more. Model how people find answers.
Use clear, honest language
Give an age-appropriate explanation and say when you do not know. “Let’s find out” teaches more than inventing a confident answer.
Keep safe boundaries
Curiosity still needs limits around roads, tools, electricity, water, unfamiliar plants, and other hazards. Explain the boundary and offer a safe alternative.
